SONCAP stands for the Standards Organization for the Nigeria Conformity Assessment Program. The SONCAP Certificate (SC) is a mandatory customs clearance document in Nigeria for import and export purposes. It is issued by the Nigerian Standards Organization (SON) upon receipt of the IAF’s Certificate of Conformity (CoC). This certificate applies to SONCAP-regulated products.
This certification is for an important property of the product. This is an important form of non-public display of products from an export protection program. Help ensure that the minimum requirements for products that people get to safety are met.
SONCAP regulated are products that cannot be exported without certification. Every exporter of these specific product categories must be SONCAP certified.
It does not prevent commercial safety and the use of substandard products because of its impact on the trade environment. Since SON CAP also gains enhanced manufacturing fairness compared to increasing the manufacturing cost of the product, it will be introduced in a standard way in imports while it will be introduced into generally cheaper products.
