What is Côte d'Ivoire COC?
JCT reminds its customers that the Government of Côte d’Ivoire has implemented a Verification of Conformity Program for all goods imported in Côte d’Ivoire with a FOB value superior or equal to XOF 1 million (approx. EUR 1,500).
A period of grace had been granted until July 15th, 2018 (B/L date). Shipments loaded after this date and arriving without Certificate of Conformity will be rejected by Customs and penalties will be applied: 50% of cargo value + confiscation and destruction of goods at the expense of the importers.
What product is required?
Submitted products
Even though the programme concerns all products, during the pilot phase of the programme, running from February 15th 2019, the Ministry has made mandatory the certification process for all goods belonging to the following 13 product families referred to in decree 2016-1152 of December 28th 2016:
- Food products
- Electrical, electronic or renewable energy products
- Cosmetic and hygiene products
- Building materials
- Packaging
- Spare parts and accessories automotive and lubricants
- Machines
- Pressure equipment
- EPI
- Other products related to health, safety and the environment
- Textiles
- Shoes
- ألعاب الأطفال
- Or send HS Code to JCT stuff to check.
What's process?
To assess the conformity of a shipment, the Verification of Conformity process will follow one of the three following ways of compliance called “Routes”, depending on the profile of the exporter:
Route A for exporters with infrequent shipments or sensitive products.
Route B for exporters with regular shipments with non-sensitive homogeneous products.
Route C for manufacturers, official distributors and brand owners with regular and high-volume shipments to Côte d’Ivoire and having a Quality Management System (QMS) applied to their production/manufacturing process.
Requirements:
Certificate must be obtained at the Port of Loading. It is not possible to obtain it at destination;
Certificate is required for Customs clearance.
NB: CoC number is not needed to be mentioned on B/L or Cargo Manifest.
